In most work places you will need to be able to work with others in a team. For this assignment, you and a team of classmates will work together to a) decide on rules for making decisions as a group b) decide who you would like to invite to speak to our class about their occupation c) complete the tasks necessary to invite the speaker, conduct an informational interview, and thank them appropriately.

You will be assessing yourself based on the rubric below. Ms. Taylor reserves the right to change your mark if she disagrees with how you have assessed yourself so please be realistic and honest!

Meeting Number 1:

Task: Everyone should write down one rule they think is important for working in a team. Be specific about what behaviors will mean that the team is following this rule.

Discuss these rules and write down three rules that your team can agree to work by here:

1) Everyone must take on a role in bringing the guest speaker in. There are five tasks and five people in most of the groups therefore each person will be assigned one task.

Task: Everyone should write down three or four occupations they are interested in learning more about and people they know who might be interested in coming the speak.

Discuss these possibilities as a team and decide on a first and second choice of who you would like to invite. The speaker chosen should be someone everyone on the team is interested in. You may need to use a phone book to look up a number to call.
